Goodnight Garden

Have you had the pleasure of sitting in a garden at sunset?  Just before the sun sinks it reaches under and through the tree limbs.  Highlighting places hidden in shade all day.   Then the light gets soft.  Inviting a last look at the colors.  Nice.

But never never still.  A Jay searches for something to fight over.  A hummingbird gets in one for the road.  And the breezes coax a little scent from the roses and the lavender.

The garden is not Giverny.  But a summer evening can take it for a visit.

Our little corner of Eden rests under a flight path and next to a road.  The urge to obscure that by taking sound from somewhere else can be strong.  On this evening it was resisted.  The quail calling his mate home and the click of the hummingbird lend an immediacy to the scenes.  Most of the other noises have been minimized but in the end they are a part of the tapestry as well.

Please join me now for two minutes of  relaxation at the end of a busy day.

The sun certainly chose a beautiful garden to say goodnight. The way the light shines on the red flowers makes them look like jewels. The birds and the patio viewers are very lucky. Keep them coming.
